Want Some Candye?

The title of tonight’s lineup-rich show, "For the Love of Candye: A Benefit for Candye Kane" carries an ominous tone: What’s wrong with our favorite globetrotting blues singer? Well, she had major cancer surgery last April, but is now feeling better and touring again (she recently slipped off to the Netherlands). But the battle has left her financially devastated, embroiled in an insurance crisis (she has hardly any), and forced to PayPal her way to solvency. The S.F. community, however, has embraced the diva. Tonight’s benefit, hosted by Lady Monster and Dr. Carol Queen, welcomes a stunning list of musicians performing her songs, including lounge pioneer Mr. Lucky with guests Ralph Carney, Joshua Raoul Brody, and Veronica Klaus. Also appearing is sex artist Annie Sprinkle, chanteuse Kitten on the Keys, drag queen Trauma Flintstone, singer Alotta Boutte, blues drag king King TuffNStuff, burlesque troupe Diamond Daggers Burlesque, and many more.
