The round room of the Florence Gould jewel-box theater is fitted with beautiful moldings and decorated with angels in the plaster; the ceiling is covered in a delicate mural. To sit in it feels like perching on a satin pillow. It's p-r-i-s-s-y. If that's your thing, and we think it is, prick up your ears! The Pocket Opera offers La Bohème, under the ruched bunting and Louis XVI columns that frame the theater's proscenium. This saddest of Puccini's works, in an English libretto by Donald Pippin, is performed by Bharati Soman, Erina Newkirk, Rod Gomez, and J. Raymond Meyers in the diva roles, along with a beflounced supporting cast. It will necessitate a lace hanky, thank god, but not opera glasses only 316 of you sweet things can fit in this most perfect of all places to indulge your inner princess.
